i think you're a lovely person ;n; i also think it's understandable to not really 'get' september 11th, many of us were still under 9 years old back then; no one really understands the severity of the subject until they dig down and research it, maybe! it's not your fault for not understanding until this point; the fact that you understand now more than makes up for previous ignorance, i think. i might not have a place in sayin' all this though, so u~u
wow, thank you so much ;o; that really makes me feel a lot better. it’s a tough subject and I am rarely a serious person, but this was just something that i found really stirring, and just you saying that means a lot <3
That sounds ridiculous since it’s been a decade, but I really just never thought much about it. I never really felt how calamitous it was. I never actually just sat down and paid attention to it. It happened when I was like six and I’ve always lived far away from the events. I’ve never met anyone who was involved or had lost somebody.
But I know just how precious a human life is - people always forget how complex we are. I believe that deep down we’re all ‘good’ and we just lack empathy. We all experience love and we all have our attachments.
So I really felt it when I actually endeavored to do all the research. I watched all the footage and live news.
Now I just feel immature for not doing it sooner. I’ve been upset all day, wondering why people in general can’t learn to tolerate each other. I’m not talking about terrorism, I’m talking about the world as a whole.
Maybe it’s striking me so much right now because it’s easy to empathize with horrors like this when it hits close to home and you were alive when it happened.
This is getting long, so basically what I’m saying is:
All you need is love. Sit down and appreciate people who actually practice acts of kindness. This isn’t a culturally profiling thing, and it definitely isn’t about religion. All cultures have had some antagonism. But individuals don’t even need to be in numbers to be an influence.
I guess when I see horrible things that have happened in history, I just think, “That wouldn’t have happened if people just tried to like each other more.”
