I’m really concerned not only for my own personal goals in animating but also for the industry itself.
It’s becoming kind of clear to me that traditionally animated movies and cartoons are beginning to slowly dissipate in america. Why is that? Why is it that the japanese animation industry flourishes so much?
I get that American animation is typically more fluid than Japanese. I get that sometimes American animation looks quite a bit more realistic. But there’s one thing that really disturbs me on the difference between American and Japanese animation.
The funding and energy put into it. I’m almost positive that the Japanese entertainment industry focuses more on animation than any other kind of entertainment. Many people simply crave Japanese animation! They’ve created a product that will always remain popular. I believe a lot of this has to do with the effort put into it.
The main thing that American cartoons always neglect in opposition to anime is the shading and general scene detail. For example, can’t you see the difference in these two screenshots?
There’s simply more attention paid to the lighting and shading in the second picture.
Of course, quality of art does not necessarily MAKE an animation. Plot, voice acting, and overall theme appeal could be what mainly draws in an audience - and these are things that we can all agree that a lot of animes lack.
Unfortunately, the quality of overall animation can be somewhat scant in American cartoons as well. Hopefully this will serve as an appropriate example.
This gif is about as good as most general movement in American animation gets. And it is definitely good!
But compare it to what is considered to be a high standard of movement display in Japanese animation:
Somehow I’m seeing a difference here, in both art quality and animation quality. So far the only exception to this that I have found would in in the Avatar animated series, which demonstrates very, very quality animation.
Maybe I’m just being a giant weaboo here! I’m certainly not saying that American animation is inferior, in fact, the plotting and substance of American cartoons are usually exceptional (at least in my opinion.)
I suppose this is just the ramblings of a 16 year old with way too much animation on the brain. Does anybody have any thoughts?
It’s completely average. it’s not famous for anything, its not really academically challenging. We’ve got some very great teachers but then we’ve got some really shitty ones. same goes for the students. it’s one hundred percent a normal highschool.
okay so basically i would love you down. we will be making our way downtown walking fast faces pass and we're homebound. we'll shoot for the stars if it feels right and aim for your heart if you feel like and take you away and make it okay I swear i'll behave. take you by the tongue and I'll know you, Kiss me 'til you're drunk and I'll show you. All the moves like Jagger. in my bed.
first we would have a candlelit dinner, and then after copious amounts of alcohol I would make the first move and kiss you. Then I'd carry you over to the bedroom and inch your pants off while passionately sucking your face. Upon realizing that we are both, in fact, girls, I then whisper: "I'm sorry, I didn't think this far ahead." And then I would ask, softly, "do you have a strap on"
